Giant Fast Moving Cloud Will Collide With The Milky Way

A giant cosmic cloud is on its way to "meet" with our galaxy, the Milky Way.
The cloud's speed is estimated to more than 250km/s. The collision with the fast-moving hydrogen cloud
will take place in 20-40 million years from now and far from our location (approximately
40,000 light years from Earth)...

Spectacular Sprites and Blue Jets Phenomena in the Sky
"Over a hundred years, sprites, shooting upward from cloud tops, were observed by sky watchers worldwide.
However, even if sighted very often, these strange flashing lights, were difficult to record.
Nowadays, this light phenomenon, videotaped during the ground observations and from the space
shuttle is ready to be studied.
There are at least two types of flashing lights, associated with thunderstorms and lightning.
The first of them are "sprites" and the other are known as "blue jets"...(great images and videos)"
"New Horizons" Spacecraft Reveals Secrets On Its Way To Pluto
"NASA's New Horizons spacecraft will reach Pluto in 2015. In the meantime it has provided
new data on the planet Jupiter's atmosphere, rings, magnetosphere and its moons.
On its long way to Pluto and its moon Charon, NASA's New Horizons spacecraft was within 2.3 million km
of the giant Jupiter on Feb. 28. It made about 700 observations and began gradually sending back
spectacular data and pictures of the planet and its four moons.
The spacecraft is working hard, testing its instruments before the primary goal - Pluto!"
Spectacular Sombrero Galaxy - Messier 104
"It resembles a shining UFO or a wide-brimmed hat but... this isn't what it looks like. Its marked
central bulge and its lane of dark interstellar dust give the galaxy its unusual resemblance.

observatory images of the galaxy, photographed by NASA's... (wonderful images!)

Astronomers Map Out Planetary Danger Zone
"scientists report the first maps of so-called planetary "danger zones." These are areas where
winds and radiation from super hot stars can strip other young, cooler stars like our sun of their

about 1.6 light-years..."

Spitzer's Remarkable Discoveries
"The Spitzer Space Telescope (formerly SIRTF, the Space Infrared Telescope Facility) was launched into space by a
Delta rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida on 25 August 2003. Spitzer's "life" history has not been smooth from the
beginning. As someone said there were highlights and lowlights. For more than 30 years prior to its successful launch in
2003, there were discussions related to the creation of the project in 1983, many analyses within NASA and
the scientific community, obstacles of political and managerial character, budget problems.

Did The Solar System ‘Bounce’ Finish The Dinosaurs?

The sun’s movement through the Milky Way regularly sends comets hurtling
into the inner solar system – coinciding with mass life extinctions on earth, a new study claims.
As we pass through the densest
part of the plane, gravitational forces from the surrounding giant gas and dust clouds dislodge comets from their paths...
